June '05: Mile '0' of the Alaskan Hwy, Dawson Creek, BC, CN
We finally made it to the Alaskan Highway, after a couple of weeks driving from Arkansas! British Colombia is a gorgeous Province of Canada...no wonder on their license plates it states: Beautiful British Columbia. We were very taken with their Provincial Parks - not most folks standard of RVing (no electricity or water hook ups nor dumps and just pit toilets!). We plan to see Vancouver in 2007 to enjoy another section of BC. Our campsite in Dawson Creek was an eye opener! We were stacked on top of eachother - and when you get that far north one starts to wonder if that is all you'll be able to get (we really like the solitude of the National Forest campgrounds too)! However, we were still enjoying the trip. We stopped in Spokane, WA on our way up to Alaska to visit (Kat's) aunt Celia. It was good seeing her again, it had been years since I had last seen her. It was especially good to see her, since her sister, my (Kat's) mom passed away the previous year....and it's always good to see family.
I had also learned that my father's dad, Clifford Lincoln, had a hand in building the Alaskan Hwy! This trip was also our 10 year wedding anniversary trip (taken a year later due to my mom's declining health). We called it our 'trip of a life time!'
