Muk Tuk Kennels, Whitehorse, Yukon CN

One of Kat's favorite places was Muk Tuk Kennels. Frank Turner, shown in the 'bottom' picture with his Yukon Quest trophy. The tour was FANTASTIC - and we encourage everyone to stop by and spend 3-4 hours learning about sled dog racing, his love for his sled dogs and getting to know the sled dogs (petting them, going for a walk with them, etc.) The road into the Turner's home was not really suited for our travel trailer...we wondered if there would be a turn around once we got there! We were relieved to see a circular drive around so our departure would be a cinch. Frank began the tour inside with a video of the Yukon Quest (similar to the Itiderod) but once we got outside the dogs went crazy! The dogs knew the routine - Frank would pick only a few for our walk. The dogs were howling and jumping on top of their houses...each one saying, 'pick me, pick me!' What a day - simply marvelous!

Moose in Provincial Park, BC/Yukon area

The lake at this provincial park (which is either in northern BC or southern Yukon, Canada), had the bluest water we had ever seen. We took advantage of the good weather, and kayaked the lake - all by ourselves...no one else was on it! (Hard to imagine!)

Just as we were setting up camp, we happened to see this female moose run through the sites. She had just come over a nearby hill and stood staring at all of us, as if to say, 'there goes the neighborhood!'

June '05: Mile '0' of the Alaskan Hwy, Dawson Creek, BC, CN

We finally made it to the Alaskan Highway, after a couple of weeks driving from Arkansas! British Colombia is a gorgeous Province of Canada...no wonder on their license plates it states: Beautiful British Columbia. We were very taken with their Provincial Parks - not most folks standard of RVing (no electricity or water hook ups nor dumps and just pit toilets!). We plan to see Vancouver in 2007 to enjoy another section of BC. Our campsite in Dawson Creek was an eye opener! We were stacked on top of eachother - and when you get that far north one starts to wonder if that is all you'll be able to get (we really like the solitude of the National Forest campgrounds too)! However, we were still enjoying the trip. We stopped in Spokane, WA on our way up to Alaska to visit (Kat's) aunt Celia. It was good seeing her again, it had been years since I had last seen her. It was especially good to see her, since her sister, my (Kat's) mom passed away the previous year....and it's always good to see family. I had also learned that my father's dad, Clifford Lincoln, had a hand in building the Alaskan Hwy! This trip was also our 10 year wedding anniversary trip (taken a year later due to my mom's declining health). We called it our 'trip of a life time!'
